Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers understand sport more clearly: a precise question, a useful distinction or a careful explanation of a sporting idea.

What fits

Propose original work about rules, tactics, formats, equipment or the reasoning behind sporting claims. We favour evergreen subjects that can be explained without unsupported statistics, personal credentials or claims of testing. A strong piece gives readers a clear way to think about its subject without promising a result.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the question the piece will answer, the central point you would make and why a general reader might care. Include a brief outline and note any important limits, such as rules that vary by competition. Please do not send a finished article unless we have requested one.

Where to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please do not assume acceptance until you hear from us.
